Adult brit milah

For Jewish men who didn’t have a brit as babies. Done under local anesthesia, with real attention to comfort, in complete confidence, and with support from the first call to full recovery.

If you’re reading this, you’re not unusual

Men come to this at every age and from every background. Some grew up without the opportunity. Some came to observance later in life. Some simply were never able to have it done. Many have carried the question quietly for years, unsure who they could even ask.

You can ask us. The first conversation costs nothing, commits you to nothing, and stays entirely private.

“If I had known it was this easy, I would have done it many years ago.”A man, after his brit

How it works

  1. A private conversation

We speak by phone or WhatsApp, for as long as you need. You tell us your situation, and we tell you honestly what’s involved. Nothing is arranged until you’re ready.

  2. Preparation

Your mohel goes through your background and medical history with you carefully before anything is scheduled.

  3. Your brit

In a private office or a place we arrange together, during the day, under local anesthesia. It’s carried out fully and correctly, followed by the blessing.

  4. Recovery

You leave with clear written instructions and a direct number to call. Your mohel follows up through the healing period.

Comfort

An adult brit is done with local anesthesia. You aren’t expected to endure this. Pain management for the days afterwards is planned in advance, not improvised, and you’ll be told honestly what the first few days feel like. More on what to expect and recovery.

Discretion, or a celebration

Your conversations with us are confidential. If you prefer to keep it private, nobody else needs to know. Many men, though, are excited to make up what they missed as a baby and want the full ceremony. The brit itself is done in a private setting, and the blessings and the celebration can be shared with family and friends. Whichever you choose, we’ll arrange it.

Questions men ask first

Does it hurt?

It’s done under local anesthesia, so the area is numb while it’s performed. Pain management for the days afterwards is planned before we begin.

Where and when is it done?

In a private office, or at a place we arrange together. A brit is always done during the day, and we choose a date that suits your schedule.

How long is recovery?

Most men are back to desk work within a few days, with a longer wait before strenuous activity. You’ll get clear written aftercare instructions and a realistic picture for your own situation.

Is everything kept private?

Yes. Our conversations are confidential, and if you prefer, nobody else needs to know.

Can a mohel come to me?

Often, yes, within the United States and abroad. Tell us where you are and we’ll find something that works.

What if I can’t afford it?

Cost should never be the reason to wait. Tell us when we speak, and where it’s needed, a sponsor covers it. More on cost.

Can I call after it’s done?

Yes. You’ll have a direct number, and you can call through recovery and after it, with any question, however small.

If you’re still unsure

One conversation.

You don’t have to decide anything to have it. Ask your questions, and take as long as you need afterwards. If a message is easier than a call, write to us on WhatsApp.
